HOW TEMPRAKON® WORKS

OUTLAST® material is made up of lots of microscopic spheres filled with wax, ThermoculesTM, which have a unique ability to absorb heat, store it and release it again.

This means that as the temperature rises, ThermoculesTM absorb the heat, releasing it again when the temperature falls. This happens within a temperature change of just a few degrees. The result is minimal temperature fluctuation, ensuring sound sleep.

The OUTLAST® material is just underneath the cotton shell on the active side, which is marked by a CORNER LABEL with TEMPRAKON® printed on it and a red border.



SPACE TECHNOLOGY IMPROVES YOUR SLEEP

TEMPRAKON® sleep products are made of special OUTLAST® material, which has been developed from the material used by NASA in their space suits.

During space walks astronauts are exposed to extreme temperature variations, with differences of up to 80 degrees Celsius. Their suits must be able to accommodate such variations and adjust to them. In the same way, TEMPRAKON sleep products can adjust to large temperature variations while you sleep.

The secret lies in millions of tiny microcapsules filled with a special type of wax with a special ability to absorb and release heat. HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR TEMPRAKON® PRODUCTS

TEMPRAKON® sleep products are made in Denmark to a very high standard using the best materials.

A few good care tips will help you to ensure that your TEMPRAKON® product provides you with many years of use.

9 CARE TIPS

  1. When you wake up in the morning, some moisture remains in your quilt/pillow. You should therefore allow it to air before packing it away or putting the bedspread on.
  2. Air your quilt and pillow regularly, but don’t vacuum or beat them.
  3. Wash your quilt on its own (or two pillows together) in a washing machine with a capacity of at least 5 and preferably 7 kg.
  4. If you need to spot clean your quilt/pillow, use a well-wrung sponge.
  5. Use a proprietary down detergent, e.g. Quilts of Denmark’s specially developed "DUNVASKEMIDDEL", which is approved by Astma-Allergiforbundet (the Danish Asthma & Allergy Association).
    Always use a detergent without enzymes.
  6. Use a 60°C delicates program or a similar program with a high water level and reduced drum rotation.
  7. Spin the quilt/pillows after washing. Choose the gentlest spin cycle.
  8. The quilt/pillows must be dried in a tumble dryer at a temperature of around 60-80°C. It is a good idea to put a couple of tennis balls in the dryer with the quilt/pillows. They will keep the filling moving and so ensure more efficient drying.
  9. The drying time should be at least 3-5 hours, depending on the tumble dryer. Most importantly, your quilt/pillows must be completely dry – including the fine down inside, which will otherwise "break”.
    It is a good idea to weigh the quilt/pillows to check for moisture. Control weighing.

IS YOUR CHILD SLEEPING PROPERLY?

Lack of sleep is increasingly becoming a cause of stress in children. Sleeping too little and badly can make your child restless or down in the dumps, or even cause tummy ache. In the longer term it can affect your child’s learning, immune system and growth. The good news is that you can help to create a good, healthy sleeping environment for your child – at any age:

The tired nursery child
Children at nursery school live a hectic outdoor life, which can be quite exhausting – particularly if a child is not getting enough sleep. It is therefore important to establish a fixed, reassuring routine at bedtime and allow your child to sleep in quiet surroundings in a proper bed.

The schoolchild who is not concentrating
At school it is important to feel fresh and well rested in order to learn new things. A tired, stressed child will have trouble concentrating and retaining information. If your child is tired and bad-tempered in the morning and has trouble getting up, it may be a sign of lack of sleep. Set clear limits for how late your child can stay up in the evening.

The down-in-the-dumps teenager
The days of most schoolchildren and teenagers are filled with tension, time pressure, lots of activities and endless demands. There is rarely time to take a break and relax – apart from at night. Unless they are then disturbed by text messages on their mobile, a television that is always on and their computer, with its tempting games and a whole online world to explore. It is vital for older children to have peace and quiet to sleep in, however. Lack of sleep in young people can lead to depression, anxiety, a weak immune system and a tendency to put on weight. So set clear rules about fixed sleeping times – and remember to turn off the television, computer and mobile when you say goodnight. It is important to be aware that poor sleep can also cause sleep problems. If your child cannot get to sleep, wakes up early, doesn’t feel rested in the morning or is down in the dumps during the day, it may be due to sleep problems.

In this case you need to break the negative sleep cycle and establish a new one.

Try fixed sleeping times, restful activities just before bedtime and quiet in the bedroom all night.

Meditation is no longer considered an exclusive or outlandish practice. It has become a popular modern method of increasing energy levels and reducing stress – and it really isn’t difficult. Here is a shortcut to daily meditation. >>

Meditation used to be something people associated with bald monks, longhaired hippies and strange sects, but now it is a universal means of achieving inner tranquillity, less stress and a life in balance with oneself and one’s emotions.

In fact, studies show that just a few minutes of daily meditation prevent disease and make a person happier and more harmonious. This is because meditation is a mental resetting – or a conscious state of peace that gives a person the renewed energy to be on top form when required.

When you meditate, you relinquish control of your consciousness and get more deeply in touch with yourself. Your power of concentration improves and your brain releases special chemicals that counteract depression and anxiety, while promoting a sort of happiness instead.

It all sounds great … but a touch complicated perhaps. But it isn’t in the slightest. You just have to set aside 10-30 minutes every day (preferably twice a day) and find yourself a quiet spot where you will not be disturbed by children, colleagues or ringing phones.

What to do

  1. Find a suitable room where you can close the door and be undisturbed. It is a good idea to use the same room whenever you meditate.
  2. Sit on a chair, the floor or the edge of the bed with your back straight (if you lie down there is a risk that you will fall asleep).
  3. Rest your hands on your knees and remember that neither your arms nor your legs should be crossed.
  4. Close your eyes and breathe deeply through the nose. Focus on your breathing, following it all the way down into your abdomen and out again.
  5. If thoughts or worries pop into your head, let them slip away and focus on your breathing again.
  6. Continue for at least 10 and preferably 30 minutes at a time – and twice a day if you can.

TIP: If you have trouble keeping thoughts out of your head, calm, tranquil music may help. Choose music you like and, if it helps, follow a single instrument. It is a good idea to use the same music every time.

– For all those who have trouble getting to sleep or who sleep badly

Choose the right equipment
In other words a bed, mattress type and quilt that are the right size for you and you find comfortable.

Keep the bedroom at a suitable temperature
It must not be either too hot or too cold.

Your bed is just for sleep and sex
Avoid other activities like eating and watching television, for example.

Get up at the same time
Set your alarm clock to the same time every day – even when you don’t have to go to work. This will boost your body’s internal clock.

Relax before bedtime
Avoid strenuous physical activity just before going to bed.

Don’t take stimulants
Avoid large meals, coffee, cola and other stimulants just before going to bed.

Don’t go to bed feeling hungry
It is better to have a snack or a hot drink such as a calming tea or warm milk.

Take a hot bath
Taking a hot bath just before bedtime can be very soporific.

Get up if you are wakeful
If you can’t get to sleep or if you wake up and can’t fall asleep again, get up. Read a book (not too absorbing) or do a crossword. When you feel drowsy, you can go back to bed.

Listen to music
Relaxation techniques and soft, tranquil music can help you fall asleep.

How long will the material in TEMPRAKON that regulates temperature keep working?
TEMPRAKON technology will not stop working. It does not wear out and will not disappear in the wash either.
So rest assured that you can use TEMPRAKON for many years and continue to benefit from active temperature control.

 

 

Why does the TEMPRAKON quilt come in different versions if it regulates temperature?

As people, we all have different needs, so everyone should also have the opportunity to choose the right quilt for themselves. TEMPRAKON quilts are filled with nature’s very own insulating material, down, which is unique in its ability to insulate. The TEMPRAKON material itself cannot provide this insulation, but only help to even out temperature fluctuations. So the combination of down with TEMPRAKON technology is a perfect union that provides insulation, temperature regulation and comfort.

 

Can I feel which side should be next to the body when I cover myself with the quilt?

If you place a hand on either side of your quilt or pillow, it is easy to feel which side is active. The hand on the active side will start feeling a touch colder after just a few seconds, whereas the other hand will feel the same or a touch warmer. It is important to have the active side of your TEMPRAKON product next to the body for optimum temperature control.

 

Why not have TEMPRAKON on both sides?

The active side of TEMPRAKON products, which is marked with a red border and corner label, has an extra layer of material. This layer contains all the tiny, microscopic wax spheres that provide temperature control, but it also helps to make the quilt/pillow a little bit stiffer. Only having the material on the side next to the body allows you to benefit from temperature control while retaining the softness that will be familiar to you from a conventional down quilt or pillow.

 

How can I get the best out of TEMPRAKON?

When it comes to getting optimum benefit from TEMPRAKON, we recommend building a TEMPRAKON 'nest'. Then you will have TEMPRAKON both underneath you and on top. If you are to sleep well, it is important to have an even temperature throughout the night, but your sleeping products should also help to wick moisture away from your body at night. People normally produce between ½ and 1 litre of sweat a night!

 

Is it possible to shake your quilt the wrong way?

Yes, as a matter of fact. If you always shake your quilt from the same end, e.g. the bottom, the down filling will migrate to the other end (up to the top). We therefore recommend shaking your quilt from the side.

 

I sweat a lot at night, would a TEMPRAKON quilt cool me down?

TEMPRAKON® is not an air-conditioning system and cannot provide cooling. It is therefore important to choose a quilt with the right ‘warmth rating’. If you are a hot person and overheat, you should choose a lightweight quilt (less fill power), whereas if you feel the cold, you should probably go for a winter quilt.

TEMPRAKON® can help even out temperature fluctuations because the technology has the ability to absorb heat, store it and release it again when it is needed.

Will the temperature control function be lost in the wash?

No. The benefits of TEMPRAKON technology do not disappear in the wash and will not wear off. So rest assured that you can use TEMPRAKON for many years and continue to benefit from active temperature control.

 

Why does the quilt feel cold when I put it over me?

When you crawl under the quilt, it may feel a touch colder for the first 10-20 seconds. That is how long it takes before TEMPRAKON starts to adjust to your body and the temperature.

 

How can I tell if my TEMPRAKON quilt is the right way up?
The active side of TEMPRAKON is marked with a red border and a TEMPRAKON corner label. It is important to have the active side next to the body in order to benefit from temperature control.

 

I have just purchased a TEMPRAKON quilt and am sweating a lot at night – why has this suddenly started happening?

Make sure that your TEMPRAKON quilt is the right way up and give some thought to what you are sleeping on. If you sleep on a foam mattress or some other material that does not remove moisture, it can cause problems with sweating.

 

How does a TEMPRAKON quilt differ from an ordinary quilt?

An ordinary quilt can be soft and exquisite, with fine white down and the finest cotton shell, but it can also be hot. We all know what it is like. All of a sudden we need to stick our foot out from under the quilt or we throw the quilt half off, and shortly afterwards we have to cover ourselves up again. TEMPRAKON with active temperature control helps with this. TEMPRAKON technology has a unique ability to absorb heat, store it and then release it when it is needed. So say goodbye to tossing and turning because of being either too hot or too cold.
